This Cookie Policy explains how TECHNOLOGY BEATS ("we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies, in particular browser localStorage, on tchnbeats.com (the "Site"). It lists every item we store, explains why, and shows you how to control it. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which covers how we handle personal data more broadly.
1. What cookies and local storage are
Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to store. They are sent back to the server with every request to that site, which is why they are often used for logins, session tracking and advertising. Cookies can be first-party (set by the site you are visiting) or third-party (set by another domain, such as an ad network or embedded video player), and session (deleted when you close the browser) or persistent (kept until an expiry date).
localStorage is a storage area built into modern browsers under the Web Storage standard. It holds key–value data for a specific site, typically up to around 5 MB per origin. Unlike cookies, localStorage data is not sent to the server with each request; it can only be read by scripts running on the same site in your browser. It has no built-in expiry and persists until it is cleared by the site, by you or by your browser settings.
Under the EU ePrivacy Directive (art. 5(3)), the UK PECR and similar laws, the same rules apply to both technologies: storing or reading information on your device requires your consent unless it is strictly necessary to provide a service you explicitly requested. We apply that test to every item below.
2. Exact items we use
This is the complete list of storage items set by the Site. We do not set any HTTP cookies of our own, and no third-party scripts set any on our pages by default.

None of these items contain your name, email address or payment details, and none are used to identify you, track you across other websites or build a profile.
Why localStorage rather than cookies? Because localStorage is never attached to requests, your cart and Beat Lab pattern are not transmitted to our server every time you load a page or preview a beat. That keeps each request smaller, means our server logs contain no cart or preference data, and leaves you in full control: the data exists only in the browser on the device you used. The trade-off is that items do not sync between devices, so a cart built on your phone will not appear on your laptop.
3. Categories explained
Strictly necessary
These items are required for features you actively use. Without tb_cart, the cart would empty on every page load; without tb_consent, we could not remember or honour your cookie choice. Because they are strictly necessary, they do not require consent, but we still disclose them here.
Functional
tb_newsletter and tb_theme_seq improve your experience by remembering a preference or your creative work. They are first-party, stay on your device, are never read by third parties and are only created when you interact with the relevant feature (signing up or dismissing the newsletter prompt, or editing a pattern in the Beat Lab). You can remove them at any time without losing access to the Site.
Analytics and marketing
We currently use none. No third-party analytics, advertising pixels, social plugins or tracking scripts are loaded by default. Fonts and scripts are served from our own server, so no font or script CDN receives your IP address when you view a page. If we add any analytics or marketing technology in the future, it will remain disabled until you opt in through the cookie banner, and this policy will be updated first.
Third-party content
Links to BeatStars, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, SoundCloud or Spotify are plain links; nothing from those services loads until you click through. Once you are on their site, their own cookie policies apply. Where a YouTube video is embedded on the Site, it will not load until you click it or allow the relevant category, and we use privacy-enhanced mode where available. Beat license purchases completed on BeatStars are subject to BeatStars' own cookie and privacy policies.
4. Managing your consent
When you first visit the Site, a cookie banner explains our use of storage and asks for your choice for any non-essential category. Your answer is saved in tb_consent.
You can change your mind at any time: use the Cookie settings button in the footer of every page. It reopens the consent panel so you can review each category, accept or reject optional ones, and save. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and takes effect immediately. Where you withdraw consent for a functional item, we delete that item from your browser.
5. Browser controls
You can also control storage directly in your browser. Clearing "cookies and site data" for tchnbeats.com removes all four items listed above. Typical locations:
- Chrome / Edge / Brave / Opera: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data (or "Site settings") → See all site data and permissions → search for the site and delete. You can also open the padlock icon in the address bar → Site settings → Clear data.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data → select the site → Remove Selected.
- Safari (macOS): Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data → select the site → Remove.
- Safari (iOS / iPadOS): Settings app → Safari → Advanced → Website Data → swipe to delete the site.
- Developer tools: in most desktop browsers, press F12, open the Application (Chrome/Edge) or Storage (Firefox) tab, choose Local Storage and delete individual
tb_keys.
Private or incognito windows discard localStorage when the window closes, so your cart and Beat Lab pattern will not persist there. Blocking all site storage will stop the cart and Beat Lab from saving between pages, but the rest of the Site, including the contact form and beat catalogue, will continue to work.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) or similar opt-out signal, we treat it as a refusal of any optional analytics or marketing category, should we ever introduce one.
6. Updates to this policy
We will update this Cookie Policy whenever we add, remove or change a storage item, or change how an existing item is used. The effective date at the top shows the latest revision. If we introduce any item that requires consent, we will update this page first, and the cookie banner will ask for your choice again before that item is set.
